Προβολή του ντοκυμαντέρ «Η ζωή θα χαμογελάσει»

Το Γενικό Προξενείο της Ελλάδας στο Τορόντο εξασφάλισε την προβολή του ντοκυμαντέρ "Η ζωή θα χαμογελάσει" ("Life will smile") στο επικείμενο εβραϊκό φεστιβάλ του Τορόντο (TJFF), που θα πραγματοποιηθεί φέτος διαδικτυακά λόγω των περιορισμών που ισχύουν για την αντιμετώπιση του COVID-19.

Το ντοκιμαντέρ «Η Ζωή Θα Χαμογελάσει» αφηγείται τη μοναδική ιστορία της πλήρους επιβίωσης της εβραϊκής κοινότητας της Ζακύνθου κατά τη διάρκεια του Ολοκαυτώματος, χάρη στην ηρωική στάση των κατοίκων της Ζακύνθου, του Επισκόπου Χρυσοστόμου και του Δημάρχου Λουκά Καρρέρ. Το φεστιβάλ είναι ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα του είδους του παγκοσμίως.

"Life will smile” at the Toronto Jewish Film Festival 2020

Zakynthos is a Greek island on the Ionian Sea famed for its beauty. It also has the unique distinction of having saved all 275 of its Jewish inhabitants during WWII. In this compelling story, Haim Konstantini, one of the survivors, narrates how the islanders united to ensure the survival of their Jewish population. Two key figures instrumental to the story were Mr. Loukas Kerreri, Mayor of Zakynthos’ capital, and Bishop Chrysostomos, who both refused to list the island’s Jews for the occupying Nazis. They have been recognized as Righteous Among the Nations at Yad Vashem for their bravery.

“Life will smile”, by director Dery Cleanthous will be screened at the this year’s virtual Toronto Jewish Film Festival on October 27 and 28. Producer Steven Priovolos will be available for a Q&A session over Zoom on Thursday, October 29th, at 2 pm.
