The Hellenic Initiative Canada presented Freedom Besieged: Unshackling The Youth of Greece by award-winning Canadian filmmaker, Panayioti Yannitsos. Carrying an overall hope-based theme, it tells the inspiring stories of various Greek youth and community leaders who, without violence, seek a prosperous future amidst the crisis.

Following the premiere of the film, there was a panel discussion featuring: Film Director Mr. Panos Yiannitsos; Mr. Robert Peck, Former Ambassador of Canada to the Hellenic Republic; Mr. John Karkalatos, basketball coach featured in the film; Mr. Vasileios Tsianos, Chair of New Leaders THI Canada section; Ms. Katerina Sokou, Visiting Scholar, Elliott School of International Affairs, GW and Washington DC Correspondent, KATHIMERINI Greek Daily and SKAI TV; The discussion was moderated by Professor Spyridon Kotsovilis, Political Science at the University of Toronto.
