Message from the Prime Minister of Canada for the 60th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Cyprus

It is with great pleasure that I join the Cypriot community here in Canada and worldwide in celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Cyprus.

Today is an important opportunity for Canadians of Cypriot descent to reconnect with, and celebrate their heritage. It also serves as a wonderful occasion for Canadians of all backgrounds to gain a deeper understanding of Cypriot culture and to recognize their many contributions to our country.

This year has presented a unique set of challenges for having large gatherings or planning celebrations. However, while our celebrations may be smaller in attendance than in previous years, they still hold the same significance and meaning.
