The Consulate General of Greece in Toronto, the Brotherhood Pontion Toronto “Panagia Soumela” and the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy are hosting the North American premiere of the documentary “Pontos: Memories in the mist of the past” in Toronto, on November 3rd, 2019. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with the director Yorgos Demir and the screenwriter Evangelos Aretaios.

“Pontos: Memories in the Mist of the Past “ follows the traces of people expelled from their birthplace. Under the guidance of two academics from Turkey and Greece, we follow a journey through the past, where research meets testimonies, and objectivity meets official documentation. Crucial questions regarding the events in the area of Pontos will lead a young man from İzmir towards an exploration of his past and the realization of a new identity. The documentary was shot in 2017 in Greece and Turkey and premiered at the 2018 Documentary Festival of Thessaloniki.
